Bishop Sutton Res  3- 0  Fry Club Res

Following two good performances against Wells and Hengrove Sutton were looking to continue their push up the league against Frys. The result was never really in doubt once Chapman has latched on to a long ball from Clarke to finish with ease against a static defence. However Clarke was called upon to make a superb save following a poor back pass and Sutton went in 1-0 up at half time but not reaching the heights of their performances of previous weeks. Although it was Sutton who had most of the play it was not until late in the second half when a following a good move substitute Clift scored and shortly afterwards a ball across the goal was deflected into the net with Chapman claiming his second goal of the afternoon. A clean sheet made it a good result all round and the lads led by smiling Dando who turned out not to be a mate of the ref but then again neither did Ian Williams If Sutton’s young side continue to play football they will pick up further victories which given their attitude and desire they will  no doubt deserve. MOM Alex Chapman

Hengrove Res  2 - 4  Bishop Sutton Res

On a glorious sunny afternoon the reserves travelled to an Hengrove side who have been in good form of late. The Sutton side were missing several regular players but had played well the week before at home to Wells when they were denied victory by a last minute equalizer.
The pitch and conditions suited Sutton’s youngsters who knocked the ball around well and were denied a goal their approach play deserved with Chapman, Clift and Bament all going close.
However a long ball over the top resulted in Hengrove going one up against the run of play.
Dark and Dando in midfield were beginning to dominate and a shot from Dando somehow fell to Chapman who facing away from goal back healed the ball and ended up chipping the keeper to make it 1-1. As the second half started Sutton were again undone by the long ball and found themselves 2-1 down. They responded well and got the equalizer through Bament who pounced on a poor back pass to make it 2-2. It was now all Sutton now who went in front with Dadds finishing off a great ball from Dando to put Sutton 3-2 up and almost straight away went 4-2 up following a determined run from Dadds whose attempted shot fell at the feet of Mateer whose effort did not go in but Clift managed to bundle the ball in to make the final score 4-2.
This was a great result based on collective hard work and teamwork. The defence of Dymond,Payne,Stowell and Gwyther withstood all Hengrove had to offer with Sutton’s keeper Clarke having a relatively quit afternoon.
